AlphaTRAK Meter Accuracy

Dog being tested with AlphaTRAK Glucose Monitor

Accurate Readings Are the Key to Diabetes Management

Veterinarians depend on accurate blood glucose measurements to manage canine and feline diabetes. Unfortunately, hand-held instruments designed for convenient glucose monitoring in humans are not validated for veterinary use. The Abbott AlphaTRAK® Meter, a portable blood glucose meter calibrated and validated for speciesspecific blood, can help ensure accuracy.

A study was conducted to compare the accuracy of AlphaTRAK Meter and two human portable blood glucose meters against the reference method used by Antech Laboratories. This study concluded that1,2 :

  • The AlphaTRAK Meter results were statistically equivalent to the Antech results.
  • The human portable glucose meters tested provided statistically different results.

Chart

As this chart demonstrates, the AlphaTRAK Meter is an accurate option when it comes to monitoring a pet's blood glucose at home.
