Abbott Animal Health aims to be a leader in the pet health industry. We do realize, however, that helping pet owners care for their pets is a much bigger job than any one company can handle alone. In order to provide our customers with the best products and services possible, we have partnered with some of the industry's best and brightest companies. Read on to learn about one of our partnerships.
Partnership for Preventive Pet Healthcare
Responding to the alarming fact that the health of our pets is at risk, a unique alliance of professional veterinary associations and leaders in the animal health industry have announced the establishment of the Partnership for Preventive Pet Healthcare. This Partnership has specifically been created to address the decline in our pets’ health due to an increase in the prevalence of some preventable health conditions including a dramatic double-digit rise in the prevalence of diabetes and internal parasites in dogs and cats.1 This comes in the midst of a decrease in the number of pet visits to the veterinarian, in contrast with a growing pet population. The goal of the Partnership for Preventive Pet Healthcare, an organization chaired by AVMA CEO Dr. Ron DeHaven and managed through an Executive Committee, Board of Directors and supported by various advisory councils, is to provide guidance and ensure that veterinary visits lead to early detection and prevention so that pet owners and their pets can enjoy a longer and healthier life together. Abbott Animal Health is proud to be a member of the Partnership. Visit www.PetHealthPartnership.org for further information.
Abbott Animal Health and PDx Biotech have partnered together to offer veterinarians and their patients the first detection and monitoring device for active periodontal disease in dogs- OraStripTM QuickCheck Canine, developed by PDx BioTech. Because 60% of periodontal disease manifests itself subgingivally, a simple visual exam is not a sufficient indicator of periodontal status, potentially leaving disease undetected or underdiagnosed. OraStrip QuickCheck Canine from Abbott and PDx Biotech overcomes this issue, providing an accurate indication of active periodontal status. OraStrip QuickCheck Canine is a quick, non-invasive tool that detects and monitors unseen active periodontal infection and supports Veterinarian recommended wellness, treatment and compliance programs. www.OraStrip.com 1-855-OraStrip (855-672-7874).
