Wound Care

Abbott Animal Health provides unique wound care products that serve to advance patient care in the veterinary setting. NEXABAND® S/C and NEXABAND® Liquid topical tissue adhesive are two of those products.

NEXABAND Liquid Topical Tissue Adhesive is a clear tissue glue that can be used instead of sutures (stitches) for closing incisions caused by injury and in declaw procedures.

NEXABAND S/C Topical Tissue Adhesive is a clear, thick, flexible tissue glue that can be used instead of stitches in procedures where a stronger bond is needed such as spays, neuters, routine surgery or declaw procedures.

Some reasons to talk to your veterinarian about tissue adhesives:

  • NEXABAND Liquid and NEXABAND S/C Topical Tissue Adhesive wear off naturally as the wound heals and skin cells shed, so there is no need to bring your pet back to the vet to get it removed, like with some stitches
  • Scarring is minimized
  • Dogs and cats often lick and bite at the wound site. NEXABAND flexes with the animal so there is less discomfort, which may minimize licking and biting at the wound site
  • Stitches leave openings in the skin surface that can be exposed to dirt and germs. NEXABAND products provide a clear protective barrier to dirt and fluids
  • NEXABAND cannot be used internally. It is for external (outside the body) use only.
