PropoFlo (propofol) can be used as an induction agent or injectable anesthetic.
- Can be dosed once or multiple times for procedures lasting up to 20 minutes.
- The effects of repeat doses are non-cumulative and do not affect recovery.
- Recoveries are rapid and smooth.
- One dose of PropoFlo (propofol) lasts an average of 6.7 minutes.
- No additional cost for a reversal agent is needed.
- PropoFlo (propofol) is not a controlled substance requiring increased documentation and locked storage area.
- PropoFlo (propofol) may be used for:
– Dentals
– Biopsies
– Radiographs
– Mass removals
– Endoscopy
Indications:
PropoFlo (propofol) is an anesthetic injection for use in dogs for induction and maintenance of general anesthesia.
Overdosage
Rapid administration or accidental overdosage of PropoFlo (propofol) may cause cardiopulmonary depression. Respiratory arrest (apnea) may be observed.
Precautions:
PropoFlo (propofol) contains no antimicrobial preservatives. Strict aseptic techniques must always be maintained during handling since the vehicle is capable of supporting the rapid growth of microorganisms.
Warnings:
Rapid single or repeat bolus administration may cause undesirable
cardiorespiratory depression including hypotension, apnea and oxygen
desaturation.
When using PropoFlo (propofol), patients should be continuously monitored and
facilities for the maintenance of a patent airway, artificial ventilation and
oxygen supplementation must be immediately available.
Side Effects:
The primary side effect of PropoFlo (propofol) is respiratory depression as
evidenced by tachypnea and apnea.
Contraindications:
PropoFlo (propofol) injection is contraindicated in dogs with a known
hypersensitivity to PropoFlo (propofol) or its components, or when general
anesthesia or sedation are contraindicated.
